The Gigabyte WRX80-SU8-IPMI is one of the motherboards for AMD's Ryzen Threadripper Pro CPUs and offers a plethora of features for the desktop workstation platform. The combination of the sWRX8 socket and the WRX80 chipset is required for the "prosumer" processors of the Threadripper Pro series in order to support their numerous business and professional functions.

Other important features of the Gigabyte WRX80-SU8-IPMI motherboard include the two LAN ports with 10 Gbit/s (Intel X550-AT2). When it comes to audio, the manufacturer relies on the Realtek ALC1220-VB audio codec . This provides a total of five 3.5 millimeter jack sockets and an optical S/PDIF output on the I/O panel.

The mainboard has seven USB 3.1 ports (USB 3.2 Gen 2). These come as an internal Key-A header and in the form of a USB Type-C socket and achieve a maximum data transfer rate of 10 Gbit/s. The five other USB 3.1 ports are located on the I/O panel.
Expansion slots and connections for drives
The E-ATX mainboard provides seven PCIe x16 slots in the 4.0 standard for plug-in and expansion cards . Four SATA 6G connections (incl. RAID support) and two M.2 slots , which are each connected directly to the CPU with four PCI Express 4.0 lanes, are provided for connecting data carriers such as SSDs and hard drives . In addition to SATA, the M.2 ports also support the advanced NVM Express protocol, which has been specially optimized for highly parallelized data carrier access on modern PCIe SSDs.
