The cable whip offered here is needed if you want to connect a host terminal (eg a motherboard with four SATA ports) and a target terminal (eg an HDD backplane). The target is connected via a SFF8087 connector, also known as mini-SAS, and connected to four SATA interfaces of a host. One of the advantages of this interface is that the electrical signals from several hard disks or SSDs can be transmitted via this single connection. In addition, there is often too little room on the boards of the backplanes to solder many SATA ports.
Here, the mini SAS interface with SFF8087 is often the tool of choice. When plugged into such a socket, the other end of the cable offered here consists of four standard SATA data connectors and one SGPIO cable. The cable or individual strands are about 50 cm long and made in black, while the plug itself comes in black.
