When did the Plesiosaur exist: This species lived from the early Jurassic to the end of the Cretaceous period, from about 220 t0 65 million years ago. Plesiosaurs were large, marine reptiles from the Mesozoic Era that ranged in size from 8-46 feet long (2.5-14 m). The name Plesiosaur is Greek for "nearer to the reptiles". It was given this name since the Plesiosaurs is not actually a dinosaur, but rather a large swimming reptile.
